The One House Walled Garden

This restoration project began in 1999. The walled garden was originally constructed in the early 18th century by the Hulley family who occupied the nearby One House mansion. This house was demolished in the 1830s and the garden fell into disuse. Over the last 9 years a team of dedicated volunteers have worked every monday to bring the garden back into full production.

Here are some images showing work carried out over the last few years.

Hundreds of yards of stone edgings have been relaid, 2 terrace walls repaired.....

..... and 6 flights of steps rebuilt.

Tree stumps have been grubbed-out and doors replaced.

As each area was cleared, vegetable crops were sown, the produce to be shared out later between the volunteers.
